  i am surprised Mustek is still going, I used to have one of their scanners years ago, serial one, it was really good for the price.
  When you install the software, try compatibility mode, it may work and try running the software in compatibility mode. the drivers may be fine, just the software, try doing a manual scan without using the buttons.
  Failing that then maybe it is time to get a new scanner if you want to stay with Windows 10.
  I have an HP scanner and i had problems with it when using it with Windows ten, the drivers worked fine, but the autosheet feeder played up and I had the same problem as you in that when I pressed a button on the scanner
  the software would error.
  I did get it working but it was a lot of hassle, then HP updated some drivers and it worked fine.
  I am running windows 8.1 again now, but i know what to do now if I go back to Windows 10, my scanner may be old, but it cost far too much for me to scrap it.
  If you are going to buy a new scanner, look at Hp, awful printers, but great scanners or Canon, they are pretty good as well and cheap.

  This BearPaw is 2000/XP era. 1200x600 quoted AFAIK? Just putting it out there that the cheapest Canon AIO is £40 and is stated as 4800x1200. No idea of optical/interpolation but you catch my drift.

  This is the problem, My scanner is 2400x 2400 and I know that newer scanners have better res, but this one cost me a fair bit and and have a sheet feeder, also a good slide scanner on it. I will keep it for as long as it keeps working.

  I tried compatibility mode but it didn't work
  However
  I then changed it to run as Administrator and Voila.. it worked.
  SO my scanner is now working in Windows 10.
  It will only save as TIF however I just load into 'PAINT' and save as JPG.
