C Isam Odbc Driver For Mac

04.02.2020

IBM® Informix® C-ISAM® is a library of C-language functions that manages indexed sequential access method (ISAM) files. It bypasses the overhead of a relational database management system (RDBMS) and provides fast, efficient access to database records. Convert C-ISAM to Excel using Full Convert Enterprise. ODBC is used for this conversion path. Quick and reliable database migration application, tested and trusted by thousands of companies and individual users in over 80 countries. This is a valid ODBC statement handle. This is an integer variable. The ISAM error will be placed in errornum. A value of zero returned in errornum. It runs on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and numerous Unix variants, and has native programming interfaces for C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, Ruby, ODBC, Tcl, the.NET framework languages, etc. It is released under its own open source licence, the 'PostgreSQL License'. Learn about the new Mac OS X ODBC features available with Informix(R) Client-SDK and Connect 3.50.xC3. In Part 1 of this 2-part series, see how the ODBC features integrate fully with native Mac OS X applications. In Part 2, you'll follow a series of detailed walkthroughs using FileMaker Pro.

I know of one other ODBC provider for MF ISAM files and they are
called Transoft and the product is called U/SQL. Here is a link
to their site;

Do you have any problems using the parkway product. Please tell me.

We're using Parkway as well with no more problems since we access the
CISAM-Files stored on a Unix machine with the new Parkway Server, which
is quit fast (10 - 12 times faster as accessing them direct) and there
are no more index problems when writing into the files.

And there is no need to run fileshare.

No problems. Just thought I better research if I had the most cost effective
solution. I intend to run without the server side accessing isam files on a
nt server. Read only to start with. A maximum of four uses accessing the
same data over a 100Mbit network. Do you feel speed and data integrity (if
we decide to do write access) may be an issue without the server side.?

Accessing the data using 'normal' odbc will surely increase network-
traffic because all comparings will be done on client site AFTER
retrieving all datas (hopefully retrieved by index-optimization).

But I can't see any data integrity problems if your updates are using
the right strategy. Will say: Your update/delete clause has to be set to
'key and updateable columns ' or (depends on your requirements) 'key
and modified columns'. But never use 'key columns only'.
Since we're using the ParkWay Server (avaible for Unix only as far as I
know..) our PB-Applications are running at least 10-15 times faster
than accessing the files using direct network access. In fact, users
can't see any difference accessing cobol ISAM-files or accessing tables
on a Sybase Server.
Now it makes a lot of fun to replace existing (very old) cobol-progs
thru PB-applications..

One more problem: Be sure that your ODBC-Driver and your Cobol programs
are both using the SAME file-handlers. If not, index corruption will be
a big problem.
